HYDERABAD, FEB. 14. The city region of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has made all arrangements to have bus services connecting the 11 railway stations between Secunderabad and Falaknuma on the newly opened Multi Modal Transport System (MMTS) route. The Regional Manager, C. Pandurangamurthy, said that with improved coordination between the RTC and South Central Railway (SCR), he hoped for near-perfect coordination between the RTC buses and MMTS rail services. "The city region is geared up to make sure that passengers alighting from trains have buses and vice versa, to proceed to their destinations," he said. He said out of the 11 stations, it had been found that nine had bus stops adjacent to them. The existing services would be quite sufficient to meet the needs of MMTS train passengers, he said. For the remaining two stations -- Falaknuma and Yakutpura -- he said fresh feeder services were being introduced from Sunday itself. Giving details, Mr. Murthy said two feeder buses would make 72 single trips between Yakutpura railway station and Charminar, with an average frequency of 20 minutes. Also, one feeder would be operated for 56 single trips between Falaknuma (East) railway station and Barkas, with an average frequency of 25 minutes for connectivity to the said railway stations on the newly opened MMTS route. He said a gap between rail/bus was essential so that people getting down from buses could buy tickets and catch a train and those getting down from trains could take a breather before boarding a bus, without any hurry. That is our priority, he said, appealing to people to patronise public transport in a burgeoning city.
