Temperature

MADURAI, FEB.14 .The city today registered a maximum temperature of 33.8 degree Celsius and a minimum of 22.8 degree Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam stood at 109.70 feet with an inflow of 179 cusecs and a discharge of 164 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 31.10 feet with a discharge of 30 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit was 1225 mcft.

Trader robbed

Close on the heels of a Kerala jeweller duped by unidentified persons posing as customs officials on Wednesday, a trader from Keelakarai, Madar Shaheeb, was robbed of Rs. 2 lakhs near Central Market here last evening.

According to the police, five persons, who came in a car, intercepted him and claimed themselves to be police personnel and took away the money.

The Vilakkuthoon police have registered a case.

Killed in mishap

A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot, when a speeding Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus hit his vehicle on the Madurai-Tirunelveli highway today.

Krishnamoorthy, who was running a private security agency, was proceeding to Kappalur, when the mishap occurred. The bus was going to Sankarankoil. The Tiruparankunram police have filed a case.

Grievance day meet

The Superintending Engineer, Madurai Electricity Distribution Circle, will hold a divisional-level grievance day meeting at the office of the Executive Engineer, Distribution, Tirumangalam, from 10.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on February 17, for consumers residing in the areas served by the Tirumangalam division.
