SRINAGAR, FEB. 16. A leader of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) and two policemen were killed near here today. Ghulam Mohammad Dar, a PDP block president, was shot dead by militants outside his house in Hydepora locality, eyewitnesses said. He died on the spot. As they were making their escape, they opened fire on two policemen, Asgar Ali and Mohammad Shafi. Both later died of injuries. The Inspector-General of Police, K. Rajindra, the Deputy Inspector-General, M.A. Shah, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Javed Gillani visited the spot. The `Save Kashmir' Movement has owned responsibility for the killings. In a statement to a local news agency, CNS, a spokesman of the outfit said Mr. Dar was close to the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and involved in anti-movement activities. He also reiterated that the outfit was responsible for the recent killing of the Deputy Inspector-General, Mohammad Amin Bhat.
