DMK, Congress yet to reach accord

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, FEB. 16. Talks are taking place at different levels, but no final understanding has been reached between the Congress and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on differences over the seat-sharing issue.

According to DMK sources there is no change in the situation or in the list. "We are hoping that the Congress will resolve its internal differences before coming back to us with any suggestions for change," a senior negotiating team member said.

Welcoming the move to induct former Union Minister, P. Chidambaram, in the campaign work, DMK sources took note of the need to get him elected to the Rajya Sabha. "There is a realisation on all sides that it requires the spirit of give and take to make an alliance work."

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party sources say that the seat-sharing exercise with the ruling All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has been almost completed. "We are expecting the announcement in two days," a party senior said.
