Raghunath Jha returns to RJD

By Our Special Correspondent

PATNA, FEB. 17. The Samata Party MP, Raghunath Jha, returned to the Rashtriya Janata Dal in the presence of its president, Laloo Prasad Yadav, after a gap of over eight years today.

Mr. Jha said that he had "returned home" as he felt "suffocated" in the Samata Party and the National Democratic Alliance, both of which were "trying to rope him" in after he refused to join the JD(U). Mr. Laloo Yadav said that Mr. Jha could contest from any constituency of his choice — the grapevine has it that he is likely to contest from Bettiah, shifting from his own constituency, Gopalganj, where the RJD is expected to field the Chief Minister, Rabri Devi's brother, Annirudh Prasad, alias Sadhu Yadav. Mr. Laloo Yadav said the objective was to defeat the NDA in Bihar and elsewhere and form an alternative government at the Centre.
