CHENNAI, FEB. 17. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president, M. Karunanidhi, today said it would be advisable to provide IAF planes for the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, during the campaign. Either the Government or the party could foot the bill, he added. He said his party also agreed, from the security angle, to the demand for IAF planes. He criticised the India Shining advertisements issued by various Central Government departments and said the advertisements should have been issued by the BJP and not at the taxpayer's expense. The treasury was being emptied for the benefit of a single party, he said and added that all citizens understood this. The cost of Mr. Advani's plane trips would not exceed this blatant misuse, he said.
