NEW DELHI, FEB. 17. Sher Singh Rana, main accused in the murder of brigand-turned-politician Phoolan Devi in July 2001, staged a dramatic escape from the high-security Tihar jail today. He conned authorities into believing that he was leaving with a police team from another State by having his friends pose as men in uniform and produce a fake release warrant. He then walked out with them. It was only after Rana and his cohorts had left that the authorities realised the lapse.
