BANGALORE, FEB. 17. The Judge of the Special Court trying cases pertaining to the stamp paper racket on Tuesday rejected an application from the prime accused in the cases, Abdul Karim Telgi, seeking permission to attend the funeral of his brother, Abdul Rahim Telgi, who died at Khanapur in Belgaum district on Monday. The Judge, A.T. Manoli, said Telgi could not be allowed to move out of the jail. However, the accused could be permitted to speak to his mother on telephone if the jail manual permitted this, the judge said. The Judge allowed Parveez Rahim Telgi, son of Abdul Rahim Telgi and another accused in the cases, to visit Khananpur to perform the last rites of his father. The application of another accused, Zaheed Maniyar, was rejected as he was only a distant relative. The former prison officials, P.N. Jayasimha and Nanjappa, who were arrested in connection with the racket, refused to undergo narco-analysis.
