KOLLAM, FEB. 17. The Congress leader, V.M. Sudheeran, has called upon politicians to go in for introspection and agree for a code of conduct aimed at ending the erosion of values in politics. Inaugurating a seminar on ``Erosion of values in politics and literature'', organised in connection with the first death anniversary of the Congress leader, Kottara Gopalakrishnan, Mr. Sudheeran said that raking up communal and religious passions exposed the criminal side of political parties in achieving their game plan. He said it was unfortunate to note that whenever religious and communal issues got flared up, large sections of people tend to forget even their basic issues. The political scenario in Gujarat soon after the riots is a perfect example of this phenomenon, he said. He said politics in the name of communalism and religious fundamentalism provided protection to an order of criminals.
