Lyngdoh disapproves of `Shining India' ads
PUNE,
FEB. 17.
Expressing disapproval of the heavy expenditure incurred by the Government on issuing `Shinning India' advertisements to highlight its achievements, the former Election Commissioner, J.M. Lyngdoh, today expressed hope that they would be withdrawn.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar on `Elections and Democracy', he said even if it was not wrong legally at this juncture, it was not proper, considering that it involved the taxpayers' money.
On providing aircraft to the Deputy Prime Minister during election campaign, he said, ``the Prime Minister is different from others. The distinction should be maintained''.
