BANGALORE, FEB. 17. The Commissioner of Police, Bangalore, S. Mariswamy, has announced traffic restrictions in Koramangala to ease congestion and prevent road accidents. The restrictions will come into effect from February 28. This once quiet suburb is teeming with vehicles throughout the day because of the presence of a number of software firms and large shopping malls. Vehicles going to Hosur Road also pass through Koramangala. According to a press release from Mr. Mariswamy, 1st Cross (Yedaneeru Math Road) in 5th Block, Koramangala, will be made a one-way stretch. Vehicles entering 1st Cross from 80 Ft. Main Road will stop at Microland junction, turn right at Munireddy Kalyana Mantapa junction, enter 5th Cross (60 Ft. Road), and take the 100 Ft. Road at Canara Bank junction. Vehicles going to 1st Cross from 100-Ft. Road, passing through 5th Cross (60-foot road), will turn right at the Sukh Sagar junction and enter 1st Cross, the release says. Movement of heavy transport vehicles has been banned on all roads between 1st Cross and 5th Cross, 5th Block, Koramangala. Provision has been made for parking vehicles on 5th Cross (60 Ft. Road) from UCO Bank junction to Koramangala Police Station.
