National seminar at Kakatiya University

By Our Staff Reporter

WARANGAL, FEB. 18. The Department of Economics, Kakatiya University, is getting ready for the biggest event of the institution, a national seminar on `Globalisation and rural transformation' beginning on February 20 here.

Besides economists of international repute, more than 200 delegates representing as many as 15 States are expected to attend the seminar.

The academics propose to deliberate upon the positive and negative aspects of globalisation on various sectors of the economy, with special reference to the rural economy.

Speaking to The Hindu, the head of the Economics Department, A. Vinayak Reddy, said ever since the process of globalisation, nowhere a discussion took place on a large scale like the proposed seminar.

"It is truly national in sense. Academics from various States relate and share their observations. A compilation of the proceedings will help formulate developmental policies henceforth,'' he explained.
