DAVANGERE, FEB. 18. Work on laying a line between Kotturu and Harihar is going on briskly and a sum of Rs. 3 crore has already been spent on it, Basavan<149>agouda R. Patil Yatnal, Minister of State for Railways, has said. Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Harpanahalli railway station at Harpanahalli on Tuesday, Mr. Yatnal said 110 acres in Bellary had already been acquired and another 560 acres had to be acquired in Davangere district. A sum of Rs. 10 crore was being spent on land acquisition for the railway line, he said and expressed the hope that the project would be completed in two years. Foundation stones for 230 projects had been laid since 1973, but not even a single project had been taken up so far, Mr. Yatnal said and added that a sum of Rs. 43,000 crore was required to complete the projects.
