VELLORE, FEB.18. The Christian Medical College Hospital here will organise a Hospital Day from February 19 to 21 to showcase its facilities. The CMCH Director, George M. Chandy, told reporters that besides presenting the facilities available in the 117 departments in the hospital and the medical college, including the Community Health And Development (CHAD) Hospital at Bagayam and the Rural Unit for Health and Social Affairs (RUHSA) at K.V. Kuppam, the hospital intended to organise programmes to educate the public on health care. The Cardiologist and Deputy Medical Superintendent, Sunil Chandy, said 114 stalls would display the diagnostic and treatment facilities available in the hospital during the Hospital Day, which would be celebrated in the form of an exhibition to be held on the western side of the campus near the exit gate. Different departments would organise recorded video programmes to show the performance of various surgeries. There would also be programmes to create awareness of good diet, cancer detection, bird flue and other common health problems. Another highlight would be a daily health check up for the public. On payment of Rs.10, the public could have a package including a diabetes test, blood pressure test, eye test, dental check-up and know their weight. The cardiology stall would do an electro-cardiogram (ECG) test on payment of Rs.25. Entry to the exhibition would be free of cost. Dr. Chandy said the Hospital Day would be inaugurated by the Collector, A.C. Mohandoss on February 19. A continuing medical education programme would be held for general practitioners of Vellore district at the Norman auditorium at 2.30 p.m. on February 21.
