PATHANAMTHITTA, FEB. 18. The Water Resources Minister, T.M. Jacob, has said the water tariff for commercial purposes will be revised soon. Inaugurating a drinking water supply scheme at Ranni-Pazhavangadi today, the Minister said the present water tariff of Rs. 2.20 per 1,000 litres was grossly inadequate when its actual supply cost stood at Rs.8. However, he said, the Government was not planning any tariff hike on the domestic water supply. The Minister said all the small scale water supply schemes would be brought under the local bodies. Raju Abraham, MLA, presided over the function. The district panchayat president, Mathew Kulathumkal, and the block panchayat president, M.A. Ayyappan Nair, also spoke.
