BSNL prepaid connection

KOLLAM Feb. 18. Applications for prepaid CellOne connections would be accepted at selected BSNL offices in Kollam from February 20. From the BSNL customer centre here, 4,500 connections would be allocated. In addition to this, 3,500 connections would be distributed through the Kollam distributor and 3,000 connections each through the Karunagapally, Kottarakara and Pathanapuram exchanges. A statement from the Kollam Telecom General Manager's office has said that cash deposits need not be made at the time of submitting the application. At Kollam, 300 application forms would be issued each day and at Punalur 150 application forms. The forms would be issued till the specified target to be distributed is achieved. The applications would be accepted up to 4 p.m. on all working days.

Thiruvalla temple festival

PATHANAMTHITTA Feb. 18. The annual festival at the Thiruvalla Sree Vallabha Temple will begin with the Kodiyettu ceremony on February 24. The Temple Tantri, Akeeramon Kalidasa Bhattathiri, will hoist the ceremonial flag on the temple mast. The auspicious Pantheerayiram Vazhipadu will be held on February 22. The Utsavabali ritual will be performed after the Utcha pooja from February 25 to March 2. The Pallivetta will be held on February 3 and the 10-day festival will come to a close with Arat on February 4.

Award for Chandy

KOTTAYAM FEB. 18. The UDF convener and Congress leader, Oommen Chandy, has been selected for the first `Devaki Gopidas Award'. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 25,001, a citation and a memento. The award has been instituted by Devaki Gopidas Memorial Committee to honour those who have made exemplary contribution to the field of politics, social life and culture.

Inauguration Inauguration of the new building of the College of Engineering at Kidangoor would be held on Friday, the college authorities said. M.V. Raghavan, Minister for Cooperation, would be the chief guest.

Conference

The two-day district conference of the members of the milk cooperatives in the district would be held at Vaikom from February 22. Talks by experts, quiz competitions and exhibitions will be organised in connection with the conference.

BSNL booking

ALAPPUZHA FEB. 18. Booking for the BSNL pre-paid mobile connections in Alappuzha district can be done at the consumer centres of the BSNL at Alappuzha, Cherthala and Mavelikkara and at the offices of the authorised distributors from February 20, a BSNL release said. Application forms would be distributed free-of-cost to the customers, it said.

Nature camp

KOZHIKODE Feb.18. Kidsworld is organising a Nature Camp in the Wayanad hills for children in the age group of 9 to 14 years.
