Congress ready for tie-up with JMM

RANCHI, FEB 18. The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee today said while it was interested in entering an alliance with opposition JMM, RJD and left parties to defeat the ``communal'' BJP, no compromise could be made for the Rajmahal and Koderma Lok Sabha seats.

``We are prepared to leave seats where the candidates of JMM, RJD and left parties have chances to register wins. We also expect the other parties to respect our interests,'' the JPCC spokesperson Sailesh Sinha told reporters here.

Referring to reports that the JMM had been demanding Koderma and Rajmahal constituencies, Sinha said, ``we know JPCC President Thomas Hansda (Rajmahal) and another Congress leader, Tilakdhari Singh (Koderma) represented these seats in the dissolved Lok Sabha. Therefore these constituencies should not figure during discussions over seat adjustments.''

Sinha pointed out that JPCC had no qualms over Dumka, represented by JMM leader Sibu Soren.

``Such understanding will benefit forging opposition alliance,'' Sinha said. Of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in state, the BJP represents 11, the Congress two and the JMM one. - PTI
