Slump in Bush ratings

By Sridhar Krishnaswami

WASHINGTON, FEB. 19. As the Democratic nomination race is tightening up, the White House is getting bad news its way — the ratings of the President, George W Bush, are slipping.

The latest USA Today/ CNN/ Gallup poll is showing that only 42 per cent are saying that Mr. Bush has a clear plan to solve the country's problems; and in a one-on-one matchup, both Senator John Kerry and Senator John Edwards would beat him. Only a week ago this match up was very close or a statistical tie.
