An exhibition on `Study USA'

NEW DELHI FEB. 19. The United States Commercial Service of the US Embassy is organising a two-day "Study USA'' exhibition here in the Capital beginning Friday.

The purpose of the exhibition -- open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- is to give information on the availability of graduate or executive development courses in the U.S. The visitors would be able to interact with admission officials from different American universities. All information relating to types of courses available, application requirements, procedures, cost involved and housing facilities would be given.

The participating colleges include Clemson University, The Center for American Education, Dominican University, Coastal Carolina University, Hawaii Pacific University, Foothill and De Anza Colleges, Pittsburg State University, Ohio Northern University, Rochester State University, Purdue University Calumet, Tarleton State University, Southern New Hampshire University and University of San Francisco.

Some of the participating universities would also be giving presentations.

School holds science fair

NEW DELHI FEB.19. Young scientists participated enthusiastically in a Science Fair held at Children's Valley School at Preet Vihar in East Delhi today. Students of Class IV gave a glimpse of their knowledge by performing experiments on topics like magnetism, reflection, heat and properties of air. To enhance their scientific temperament, the students were asked to explain the models, which they did successfully.

The Chairman of the school, Pradeep Jain, and the Principal, Seema Bhandari, awarded certificates to the students for participating in the Fair.

Bank's retail lending

NEW DELHI FEB. 19. The Punjab National Bank organised a retail lending distribution function here today. About 21 branches from East Delhi and Noida took part in it.

At the function, PNB disbursed Rs.11 crores to 186 retail borrowers. The General Manager, Delhi Zone, V.K.Nagar, handed over the sanctioned letters to all the beneficiaries. He lauded PNB's pioneering efforts to make it one of the leading banks in the country. He also spoke on the advantages like Internet banking and ATM, which are being offered in all the branches of PNB.

Meeting on free trade zones

NEW DELHI FEB. 19. The second edition of "World Free Trade Zones'' Conference and Expo 2004 was inaugurated by the Delhi Minister for Industries, Mangatram Singhal, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi today. The exhibition has been co-hosted by the Government of India and co-organised by the World Federation of Free Zones - FEMOZA.

Global experts from the United Nations, the World Bank and the successful free zones of the world along with Indian experts will discuss the core issues of attracting FDI for infrastructure and promote exports through the development of free zones in the country.
