PONDICHERRY, FEB. 19. The Education Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan, today said the pre-matric school curriculum would have a chapter on environmental science from next academic year. Addressing students of three government girls' schools at a programme organised by the Rotary Club of Pondicherry (Mid-Town) in collaboration with the Chennai-based C.P. Ramasamy Environmental Education Centre here to create awareness of water conservation and rainwater harvesting, Mr. Lakshminarayanan said Pondicherry was heading for acute water scarcity. A resource person from the CPR Environmental Education Centre, Jayanthi, presented a talk on the necessity to conserve water.
