VIJAYAWADA, FEB. 19. Protected water will be released to 34 fluoride-affected habitations in Mylavaram Assembly constituency on Friday. The Agriculture Minister, Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao, addressing a press conference here on Thursday said that the habitations that fall in the jurisdiction of Ibrahimpatnam, Kondapalli, Juppudi, Telaprolu, Kawvluru, G. Konduru, Pinapaka, Gandemanugu, Cheruvumadhavavaram and Paiduripadu villages and were fluoride-affected would get protected water. The Government sanctioned Rs. 7 crores to install rural protected water schemes sufficient to cover 97 habitations. Water was being released on Friday to the 34 habitations in the first phase. He said the State Government had sanctioned an additional Rs. 10 crores to extend the benefits of the Tarakarama Lift Irrigation scheme to three villages in G. Konduru mandal with an ayacut of 4,200 acres. The first phase of the project would be completed by March end. Water required to irrigate 1,330 acres would be lifted into Left canals and enough to irrigate 4,500 acres would be lifted into the right canal, he said.
