By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, FEB. 19. A young man was shot at and another person robbed of cash by three young men in quick succession at Sultanpuri in North-West Delhi today. One of the accused was later arrested.

According to the police, Mukesh (18), an autorickshaw driver living in A-Block, Sultanpuri, was standing outside his house when three men came to him and fought over some petty issue around 6-30 p.m.

Amid the melee, one of them whipped out a country-made revolver and shot at him. Mukesh sustained injuries on his right thigh. He was taken to a hospital where he was said to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, the accused fled from there and attacked another person, Mohammad Mohsin (21), who works in a printing press, at Jalebi Chowk in Sultanpuri.

They robbed him of Rs. 700 in cash and fled. Mohsin raised an alarm, which caught the attention of Head Constables Bir Singh and Ramroop, who were standing at a picket nearby.

They gave the trio a chase and managed to catch one of them. He has been identified as Prahlad and a country-made revolver was recovered from his possession.

Arrested

Eight persons, who were allegedly involved in cases of murder, robbery and vehicle thefts, have been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police.

The police recovered six firearms and ammunitions from their possession.

On Tuesday, the police received a tip-off that some criminals would pass by Nehru Park in a Maruti Esteem stolen from Defence Colony this month. Subsequently, a trap was laid and two persons arrested.

During interrogation, they identified themselves as Amit Dahiya and Madhur Madhav Sharma. At their instance, the police recovered another Maruti Esteem stolen from Sarojini Nagar.

At their disclosure, the police mounted a raid at Najafgarh and arrested their accomplices, Arvind Dalal and Pradeep, who were then travelling in a Maruti car.

The vehicle was stolen from Bahadurgarh in Haryana. The police recovered two country-made pistols and four live cartridges from their possession.
