WINNERS TAKE IT ALL: The victorious Cochin University team.
KOCHI, FEB. 20. THE Cochin University campus lifted the overall championship in the Cochin University youth festival, "Ninavu 04", which concluded here today. The Cochin University campus won 221 points to bag the championship. The Model Engineering College was the runner-up with 153 points. The School of Engineering was placed third with 85 points followed by the Cooperative Institute of Technology, Vadakara, with 53 points. The College of Engineering, Perumon, bagged the fifth place in the festival with 50 points. Points won by other colleges: College of Engineering, Kidangoor (49), Cochin University College of Engineering, Pulinkunnu (41), ER&DCI, Thiruvananthapuram (32), National Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (31) and College of Engineering, Kaloopara (25). Sreenu.G of the College of Engineering, Poonjar, was adjudged "Kalatilakom" of the festival. Sreejith.M of the Model Engineering College, Trikkakara, won the "Kalapratibha" title. Ms.Sreenu won 25 points to bag the title. She won first prize in Mono Act, Fancy Dress, Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattom and Kuchipudi. Mr.Sreejith won first prize in Collage and Poster Designing events and second prize in Painting (Water colour), Rangoli and Recitation (Malayalam) competitions. He bagged 17 points to bag the title. The School of Engineering, Trikkakara, won the first prize in Video Choreography contest. The Cooperative Institute of Technology, Vadakara, won the second prize. The National Institute of Advanced Legal Studies bagged the third prize. Anju Elsa Thomas of the Cooperative Institute of Technology won the first prize in Essay Writing (English) competition. Anil.V of Model Engineering College won the second prize. Arijith of the Cochin University College of Engineering bagged the third prize in the event. In the Still Photography competition, Bibin M.Soman of the Cochin University main campus won the first prize. Amal Ayappan of the School of Engineering won the second prize. Arun Albert of the School of Engineering and Kiran K.Menon of ER&DCI shared the third prize. The Cochin University main campus won the first and second prizes in film review competition. Rajesh V.B and Swarup Madhavan were the winners. Arun V.S. of the Model Engineering College and Ansu of National Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) shared the third prize. In Mimicry competition, Jithesh Kumar of ER&DCI won the first prize. Deepu M.Sankar of the College of Engineering, Perumon, and Nixon Fernandez of the School of Engineering won the second and third prizes respectively. The Cooperative Institute of Technology, Vadakara, won the first prize in Western group song competition. The School of Engineering won the second prize. The College of Engineering, Perumon, bagged the third prize in the event. The College of Engineering, Perumon, bagged the first prize in the Ganamela competition. Model Engineering College won the second prize. K.N.Panikkar, Vice-Chancellor, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, inaugurated the valedictory session of the festival held at the main campus. N.Unnikrishnan Nair, Vice-Chancellor, Cochin University of Science and Technology, K.V.Kunhikrishnan, Registrar, P.A.Nazeer, chairman, Cochin University Union, Sruthimol K.S, vice-chairman, and Alex Cherian, general convenor, spoke on the occasion. The actress, Jyothirmayi, was the chief guest on the occasion.
