KHAMMAM, FEB. 21. The Director-General of Police, S. R. Sukumara, who paid a visit to Kothagudem on Saturday, reviewed the law and order situation and the extremist problem in the district as also across the border with Chhatisgarh and Orissa. He had a meeting with senior officials of the department and discussed requirement of forces for election bandobust. The Superintendent of Police, V. V. Srinivasa Rao, explained to him the measures to be taken to outwit naxalites in certain pockets. He informed the DGP of the breakthrough made by police parties in counter-operations. The police could unearth a weapons dump of the CPI(ML New Democracy) in Yellandu sub-division. The nine weapons, including an AK 47, were put on display on the occasion. The DGP announced rewards for those who took lead in the seizure of weapons. He discussed deployment of Rakshak parties as well as 250 armed constables joining duty newly. The OSD (operations), G. Palaraju, and sub-divisional police officers from all the divisions took part in the meeting.
