Protest against property tax scheme

SHIMOGA, FEB. 21. Members of the Federation of Citizens' Welfare Associations and the Shimoga District Chamber of Commerce and Industry staged a rasta roko at three places here on Saturday to protest against the Government's alleged failure to remove the anomalies in the self-assessment scheme for payment of property tax. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of the Shimoga City Municipal Council, K.M. Dharmappa, told a meeting of the council that action, including attachment of property, would be initiated if the revised property tax was not paid by property owners.
