BERHAMPUR, FEB. 21. The department of chemical engineering of Jagannath Institute of Technology and Management conducted a national seminar on `Role of Chemical Engineering in the Utilisation of Natural Resources' in association with the Berhampur chapter of Institution of Engineers (India) here recently. The seminar was inaugurated by Allury Murthy Raju, chairman of JITM and Prof. G.J.V.J. Raju, chancellor of Kanchi Kamakoti Pitham. Speaking on the occasion, K.N. Panigrahi, chief general manager of OSCOM, Indian Rare Earths Limited, stressed the need for utilisation of beach sand minerals available in the coastal areas of the country. Four technical sessions of the seminar were chaired by professors from the Indian Institute of Science, Indian Institute of Technology and National Institute of Technology. The Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Hyderabad-based Veera Labs, M.V.G. Rao, was the chief guest of the valedictory function.
