KURNOOL, FEB. 21. Seven lakh doses of polio vaccine has been supplied to the district, the DMHO, K.K. Sai Prasad has said. The vaccination will be given from February 22 to 24 in the district involving the revenue, health and anganwadi staff members. The Joint Director of Family Welfare, Rajendra Prasad, will supervise the programme in the district as seven positive cases were reported last year. The representative of UNICEF, Syed Sultan, has been camping in the district from December to coordinate with persons involved in the project. In the first phase of the programme from January 4 to 6, a total of 4,91,435 children were vaccinated as against the target of 4,59,923. Earlier, schoolchildren took out a rally to bring awareness among the public about the pulse polio programme. The Collector, Ajay Jain, flagged off the rally at the collectorate, which reached the Rajvihar centre. The Municipal Commissioner, K. Venkatrami Reddy, the Health Officer, Vijayasimha Reddy, the DEO, Abdul Mannan, the DMHO, K.K. Sai Prasad, the Additional DHMO, Gurranna, and others took part.
