A `plane' invitation

By Our Staff Reporter

NALGONDA, FEB. 21. An interior designer-turned-politician, Keesara Srikala Reddy, who joined the Telugu Desam Party recently, on Saturday airdropped pamphlets in the Kodad Assembly constituency inviting people to attend the `Vijayabheri' meeting in large numbers.

A four-seater aircraft dropped about 1.5 lakh pamphlets, printed in the name of Srikala, daughter of the former MLA, Keesara Jitender Reddy. The aircraft, which took off at Hyderabad in the afternoon, made rounds over the constituency for about an hour.

"All mandals were covered by the exercise," Ms. Srikala told The Hindu later. Owing to lack of time, I could not visit villages to invite people for `Vijayabheri.' So I thought it the best way to extend invitations to people,'' she said refusing to comment on the expenditure for it.

Asked whether she was planning to use choppers in the election campaign, Ms. Srikala said: "If the party give me an opportunity, I will utilise all my resources to register a landslide victory.'' To a question whether she was in the ticket race, Ms. Srikala said she was ready to contest if she was allotted the party ticket.
