AIADMK demands free power for farmers

By Our Staff Reporter

PONDICHERRY, FEB. 21. A resolution adopted today at a meeting of office bearers of the Pondicherry State Committee of the AIADMK called upon the Rangasamy government to provide electricity to farmers free of cost.

A. Anbalagan, secretary of the party, who distributed copies of the resolutions of the meeting to media persons, said the meeting thanked the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, for free power supply to all sections of agriculturists in the State. Similar measure should be adopted in Pondicherry also.

A welfare board for farmers should be constituted in Pondicherry.

The meeting welcomed the lifting of the ban by Tamil Nadu government on sacrifice of birds and animals in temples. The step had been taken to respect the religious sentiments of the people and their beliefs. The practice of sacrificing birds and animals had been in vogue in rural areas for centuries together to appease the gods.

Mr. Anbalagan said the AIADMK would put in sincere and dedicated work to ensure the victory of the alliance partner's nominee in the coming Lok Sabha poll.

The anti-people policies of the Congress government in Pondicherry would be unmasked at the polls by the AIADMK-led combine.
