VHP urges Govt. to implement anti-conversion law

By Our Staff Reporter

THENI, FEB. 21. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today urged the Tamil Nadu Government to implement the Anti-Conversion Act effectively to contain conversions in the State.

In a resolution passed at a district-level conference here, the VHP congratulated the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, and the Government for promulgating the anti-conversion law. Expressing grave concern over terrorist activities, it called for monitoring the activities of terrorist organisations in the State.

The VHP requested the Government to impose prohibition, keeping in mind the future of younger generation. Youths who have been working in Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) sale outlets could be given other jobs. The Government should create self-employment opportunities to contain growing unemployment and the Central and State Governments should organise special entrepreneurial development programmes for sustainable economic development in rural areas, it said.

The VHP's all-India general secretary, Praveen Togadia, urged the Government to take immediate steps to wipe out terrorist activities. Terrorism has reached the people's doorsteps. It is the duty of every citizen to fight terrorism. He said conversion was going on in full swing in Tamil Nadu.
