IUML to contest in DMK symbol

By Our Staff Reporter

MADURAI, FEB.21. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a constituent of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) led Democratic Progressive Alliance, (DPA) has decided to contest the Vellore Parliamentary constituency in the DMK's `Rising Sun' symbol.

Talking to presspersons here today, K.M. Kader Mohideen, its State president and the candidate, said that the party had represented to the DMK the issue of using the symbol.

"However, we will ensure that our candidate retains the party identity," he said.

Stating that the Muslims in the State were `jubilant' over the allotment of the Vellore constituency to the IUML, he said the DPA was based on the concepts of unity in diversity, communal amity and secular democracy.

Terming the constituents in the DPA as natural allies, he said the grass root level workers were working together for the victory of the alliance in all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
