University of Kerala

B.Tech examinations: The first and second semester combined examinations for the B.Tech (full time and part time-2003 admission) course will commence on May 11. Applications can be submitted till February 28 without fine, March 5, with a fine of Rs. 50 and up to March 10, with a fine of Rs.250.

BPE/MPE examinations: For the BPE, MPE and post-graduate Diploma in Health and Fitness Management examinations to be held in April, 2004, applications can be submitted till February 28 without fine, March 3, with a fine of Rs.50 and up to March 6, with a fine of Rs. 250.

Merit scholarships: Those students who had qualified for the pre-degree examination conducted by the University of Kerala in April 2002, with 420 marks in the first and second groups and 350 marks in the third and fourth groups, respectively, and pursuing their higher studies in a college affiliated to this university, can still apply for the National Merit Scholarship. Such students should submit their applications to the Deputy Registrar (Academic-3), University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram-695034, before February 28.

Hindi refresher course: Applications have been invited from university and college teachers for the refresher course in Hindi to be conducted by the UGC-Academic Staff College, Karyavattom, from April 17 to May 8. The last date for submitting applications is March 20.

Women's hostel: The newly-constructed hostel for women on the Karyavattom campus of the university will be inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, B. Ekbal, on February 25.

Committee constituted: As part of its efforts at making Malayalam the administrative language, the university has constituted a committee headed by the Vice-Chancellor, B. Ekbal. Besides the pro vice-chancellor, the members of the Syndicate, K. Sasikumar and Madhu S. Nair, the assistant registrars, V. Dathan and N. Janardhanan Pillai (convener) and K. Sunilkumar and O.T. Prakash are the members of the committee. Ezhumattoor Rajaraja Varma of the Department of Administrative Reforms of the State Government, would be a special invitee to the meetings of the committee.
