PATHANAMTHITTA, FEB. 21. The Adoor municipal chairman, Babu Divakaran, has said that the municipality has got the distinction of utilising cent per cent of the Plan fund released to it from the Government as on January 31. The Government had released Rs. 120 lakhs from the annual fund allocation of Rs. 138 lakhs and the local body could effectively utilise the entire amount in the prescribed time frame itself, he told reporters here today. However, he said the Government was yet to release the last two instalments of the Plan fund worth Rs. 18 lakhs. According to Mr. Divakaran, a total of Rs. 42 lakhs had been spent on repair and maintenance on 36 roads in the municipal limits, besides spending Rs. 20.8 lakhs on housing. He said Rs. 8 lakhs had been spent for purchasing land for the landless poor in the municipal limits.
