Arun Maribashetti hogs limelight

BANGALORE, FEB. 21. The third edition of the National Equestrian Championship will have a special place in Arun Maribashetti's memories. The final year Mechanical Engineering student from NIE, Mysore, thrilled the large gathering on his way to claiming a treble on the third day. Arun had won a double on the opening day of the championship.

Arun and his horse CJ-15 cleared 1.60m with three clear rounds in Show Jumping puissance event, the showpiece of the penultimate day.

That effort also ensured that the rider and the horse also annexed the Bangalore Horse Show puissance event. The event was restricted to only three participants as there were only three grade 1 horses in the championship.

Arun's third gold in the championship for the day came astride CJ - 15 in the BHS Show Jumping top score event. The rider and horse were again hogged limelight as they cleared the obstacles quickly. Arun collected 700 points clearing the `joker' worth 200 points with ease and also taking the other hurdles worth big points.

In the intermediate grade, Sajjan Kumar from the President's Body Guard piloted Fariyad to a fine victory.

Show Jumping Top Score: 1. Arun Maribashetti/CJ-15 (700pts), 2. Balwinder Kumar/ Miraj (670pts), 3. Dfr Malchand Bishnoi/ Goldfinger (600pts), 4. Ris J.P Masih/ mast Maulla (590)

Show Jumping Intermediate Grade (Round A & B): 1. Dfr. Sajjan Kumar/ Fariyad, 2. Ris J.P Masih/Multan, 3. Maj D Ahlawat/ Mirza, 4. Swr. Lakhan Singh/ Royal Challenge.

Hacks Open: 1. Sep Rajiv Kumar/ Purav (36 pts), 2. Hav Manoj Lama/ Mystic Melody (34pts), 3. Aditya Marwah/ Hans and Ris Gulab Singh/ Victor.

Show Jumping Medium Grade: 1. Nitin Gupta/ Knight Warrior, 2. Dfr Malchand Bishnoi/ Goldfinger, 3. Dfr S Poonia/ Sun Flower, 4. Lt Col R.K Dahiya/ famous.

Bangalore Horse Show: Puissance 1. Arun Maribashetti/ CJ-15, 2. Maj Shailnder/Master, 3. Rsi J.P Masih/Mast Maulla.

Show Jumping Sub-Junior Top Score: 1. Aviva Bidappa/ Zucchero, 2.Maryk Shaney/Knight Warrior, 3. Foud Mirza/ family Honour, 4. Kapilesh Bhate/ Shadhaan. — Our Special Correspondent
