Thangal to decide IUML candidates

KOZHIKODE, FEB. 21. The meeting of the working committee of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) held at the League House here today authorised party State president, Syed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal, to take a final decision on party candidates to the Lok Sabha seats of Ponnani and Manjeri.

Later, addressing a press conference today, the Industries Minister and IUML State general secretary, P. K. Kunhalikutty, and the all-India general secretary, E. Ahmed, MP, said that the party's working committee meeting held today had discussed the selection of candidates to the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

Other current issues were also discussed in detail. The issues included the Narendran Commission report and the reinstating of police officers suspended in the Killi episode.

Replying to queries on the Narendran Commission report, the League leaders said at the press conference that the party's opinion was that the report can be implemented only by ensuring social justice.
