Mainly clear sky likely

NEW DELHI FEB. 21. The weather man has forecast a mainly clear sky with mist in the morning on Sunday. However, there is possibility of the sky turning partly cloudy towards afternoon and evening. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 12 degree Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Saturday were 28 and 11.6 degrees Celsius respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum of 28.6 and minimum of 10.2 degrees Celsius.

Safdarjung recorded a maximum humidity of 81 per cent and a minimum of 20 per cent. At Palam, the maximum and minimum humidity were 88 per cent and 34 per cent respectively.

Cop injured

NEW DELHI FEB. 21. A Delhi police constable was injured when a Maruti van hit him at Model Town in North-West Delhi today. The driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle.

According to the police, constables Ram Mehar, Balram and a Home Guard constable, Vishal, were checking vehicles at Rana Pratap Bagh picket in Model Town early in the morning.

Around 5-45 a.m., Constable Balram tried to flag down a white Maruti van, which had tinted glasses, but the vehicle did not stop. Before Balram could take evasive action, it knocked him down and fled from the spot. Balram was taken to trauma centre from where he was discharged after first aid.

Meanwhile, Model Town police have registered a case and are trying to trace the vehicle whose complete registration number could not be taken.

RTV overturns, one dead

NEW DELHI FEB. 21. A 25-year-old man was killed and three, including a 16-year-old boy, were injured when a vehicle overturned at Kashmere Gate in North Delhi today.

According to the police, the RTV, plying between Chander Nagar in East Delhi and Fatehpuri in North Delhi, was travelling at great speed when the driver lost control near Hanuman Mandir (Yamuna Bazar) at Kashmere Gate around 10 a.m and overturned. At the time, about 20 people were in the vehicle. One of them, Dinesh Kumar Jain, was taken to Trauma Centre where he was declared brought dead. The injured were identified as Ramakant, Suresh and Riyasuddin. While Ramakant and Suresh were admitted to Trauma Centre, Riyasuddin was taken to JPN Hospital.

The police have arrested the RTV driver, Mail Singh (43), a native of Himachal Pradesh.

Man arrested

NEW DELHI FEB. 21. A 40-year-old man, who had allegedly gained access to case files in the office of an assistant to a Metropolitan Magistrate at Patiala House courts, has been arrested by the New Delhi police.
