NEW DELHI, FEB. 21. Three persons were arrested by the South Delhi police following an encounter at Mehrauli in South Delhi today. Firearms, live cartridges and knives were recovered from the accused. According to the police, a team, led by Sub-Inspector Suresh, in charge of the IGNOU police post, was patrolling at K-Block Neb Sarai in Mehrauli, when they spotted three persons moving under mysterious circumstances around 4 p.m. When they asked the trio to stop, one of them opened fire at the police party. The police party and retaliated and managed to apprehend them. Nobody was injured in the incident. The police recovered a .12-bore country-made revolver from the person, identified as Khokhan (38), a resident of Usmanpur in North-East Delhi, who had allegedly fired at the police. The other two were identified as Mohammad Zakir (36) and Montu (35), both residents of Yamuna Pushta.
