Clear sky forecast

Forecast: Mainly clear sky. Minimum temperature would be around 21 degrees Celsius. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 29.8 degrees Celsius and minimum 21.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. and at 5.30 p.m were 77 per cent and 76 per cent respectively.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 33.0 degrees Celsius and 20.8 degrees Celsius respectively, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 72 per cent and at 5.30 p.m was 67 per cent.

At Dolphin's Nose, the maximum temperature was 29.7 degrees Celsius and the minimum 21.1 degrees Celsius. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 79 per cent.

BMS condemns strike

The district unit of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has described as `misconceived' the strike called by major Leftist trade unions demanding that the right to strike be made a fundamental one.

In a statement, its president, K. Bhavani Shankarudu, says that since the Supreme Court had accepted a review petition on the issue, there is no point in going ahead with the strike.

New chairman takes charge

The former Chief Engineer of Irrigation, S. Satyanarayana, will take charge as the new chairman of the local chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) on Sunday.

BSNL teleshoppe

The second teleshoppe of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will be inaugurated at Old Gajuwaka junction by the Chairman and Managing Director of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, B.K. Panda, on Monday. According to a releasae from the BSNL Telecom District, it will have four counters for general enquiries, landline services, CellOne (post-paid) and Excel (pre-paid) connections and sales. Telephone bills and telegrams will be accepted at the DTO adjacent to this teleshoppe.

HRD lecture

The group vice-pesident (HRD) of Kirloskar Company, Wg.Cdr. A. Raghunath, will talk on human resources and integrate it with his own organisation by explaining the practices and results under the auspices of the local chapter of the National HRD Network on Monday.

CIFT open

to public

As part of the National Science Day celebrations, the Research Centre of the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, located in the Ocean View layout here will be open to the public on February 23.

An exhibition has also been arranged on the occasion, according to a press release from the organisation on Saturday.
