MANGALORE, FEB. 21. Mangalore North (Bunder) Police on Friday night arrested a person and recovered one kg of narcotics, suspected to be cocaine, from him. The accused has been identified as Javed, a resident of Bangalore. A police team headed by the Police Inspector, Jayakumar, arrested the accused near Ganapathy High School Road. The Additional Superintendent of Police, Lokesh Kumar, told The Hindu here on Saturday that the value and composition of the seized substance would be known only after confirmatory tests. He said the report was expected in around three or four days. The street value of a kg of cocaine was about Rs. 75 lakh, he added. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody till March 6.
