TIRUPUR, FEB. 21. The Centre for Environment Education (CEE) will extend the Ward Adoption Programme for domestic waste management to two more areas in Tirupur, in association with the Rotary Club of Tirupur, Gandhi Nagar. According to the project coordinator of CEE, Archana Dange, the programme was initiated a year ago in one ward (VOC Nagar). After initially covering 250 houses it was extended to 1,500 houses. Commercial establishments have also been brought under the programme. The main objective was to involve the public in the waste management programme in their respective areas. The Rotary Club of Tirupur, Gandhinagar, would provide funds for the purchase of trolleys, dustbins and in conducting public awareness programmes at Asher Nagar and Sabapathipuram. The programme would be launched in these two places by February 25.
