KAKINADA, FEB. 22. Prolotherapy is the latest technique for treatment of chronic osteoarthritis and other joint pains, according to T. Gouri Sekhar, pain therapy specialist. He told newsmen here on Saturday that the therapy was cost-effective and beneficial to poor patients suffering from pain in knee joints. He said that prolotherapy is an injection technique, which stimulates the body's own healing capability to re-grow ligaments and tendons and restore the function of injured joints. Dr. Gouri Sekhar said that simply by giving glucose injection of 20% glucose concentration to the joints only once would solve the joint pain problem. The glucose would stimulate the body's healing mechanism and ensure strengthening of the ligaments, thereby relieving the patients of the pain.
