TNGOs union for inclusion of right to strike in manifestoes

By Our Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD, FEB. 22. The Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers union has demanded that all the political parties should include the right to strike in their poll manifesto.

Speaking to newsmen here at the TNGOs home, the union State general secretary, P.Sudhakar, demanded that all political parties should take note of the demand of the employees, teachers and workers unions to have the right to strike. He said the political parties should take a look at the recent Supreme Court direction banning the right to strike. He said the employees and others were feeling insecure and were working under pressure. Insecurity had taken an upper hand and the employees could not afford to work under such circumstances. He noted that no one can deny employees the right to strike, adding that the West Bengal Government had permitted the right to strike and wanted all other States to follow suit.

Mr. Sudhakar said that for the first time in the history of the country, employees, workers and teachers were going on a nationwide strike on February 24 without any demand. He said such a thing had never happened in the country so far. Employees are only demanding their right to strike. In all, 3.5 crore employees, workers and teachers would participate in the strike.

The TNGOs Hyderabad branch president, Swamy Goud, said that the Supreme Court should take note of the inconvenience caused to the common people due to holding of massive public meetings and rallies by various political parties. He urged the Supreme Court to take serious note of such inconvenience and take appropriate action. He said it was unfortunate that the SC had given its verdict banning the right to strike.

The TNGOs' State vice-president, B.Rajeswar, district president, P.Bhooma Goud, JAC leader, Ramamohan Rao, AP Revenue Service Association secretary, and Ravinder, UTF secretary, Someswarulu, were present.
