Offer on Narendran report a ploy: INL
By Our Special Correspondent
KOCHI,
FEB. 22.
The Indian National League (INL) alleged that the Antony Government's recent offer to present the Narendran Commission report in the next Assembly session is a ploy to corner the minority votes in the Lok Sabha election.
he INL's State vice-president, Sulaiman Khalid, said here today that the offer was specifically in view of the Lok Sabha elections and aimed to mislead the Muslim and other minority voters. He said the UDF had won support of the minorities in the last Assembly polls with the offer of implementing the Narendran Commission recommendation for special recruitment (to make up the shortfall in minority representation in the Government service.) However, the Antony Government had not taken any decision on the issue so far. Now, when the polls were around the corner, the Government was offering to table the report in the Assembly. This was to dupe the minorities, Mr. Khalid said.
