PONDICHERRY, FEB. 22. The Education and Art and Culture Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan, announced yesterday that the Administration would pay Rs. 500 every month to each of the 50 indigent artistes in the Union Territory and every year 50 artistes in the field of drama and other fine arts would be selected for the assistance. Releasing a Tamil book `Mahatma Ennai Mannithividu' written by Sudharsanam here, the Minister said the department would not let down the artistes. The former Agriculture Minister, R. Viswanathan, Tamil writer, Prabanjan, the AITUC general secretary, V. S. Abishegam, and professors, Ilango, and Velmurugan, spoke.
