Plea to revamp fishermen's organisations

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 22 . The Working Committee of the Kerala Pradesh Matsya Thozhilali Congress faction led by the working president, Veli Varghese, has urged the Congress leadership to reconstitute the various boards under the Department of Fisheries and the Matsyathozhilali Congress after excluding the president, A.V. Jayaseelan.

The coastal leaders and activists owing allegiance to Mr. Varghese also threatened that they would not cooperate with the election work for the forthcoming poll to Lok Sabha unless positive steps were taken on their demands.

The working committee, which met here today under the chairmanship of Mr. Varghese, also noted that the leaders and activists who were in the forefront of organising the agitation against the previous Left Democratic Front Government were being sidelined during the last two-and-a-half years under the UDF regime.
