BANGALORE, FEB. 22. Tough Horses, tough riders and a tough course to traverse, that was the finale of the National Equestrian Championship and Bangalore Horse Show at the Army Supply Corps Centre & College ground here on Sunday. The thriller of the day was the arduous one-day event for both individuals and teams and the Remount Veterinary Corps `A' team consisting of S.Poonia, R.K Dahiya, Deep Ahlawat and Bhagirathi came up trumps. Deep Ahlawat was also the best in the individual section of the event. The one-day event ran a tough course of about six kilometres and was laced with a number of obstacles, including the entertaining water jump. Commencing early in the morning the event went into the late afternoon when the horses and riders also had to participate in the show jumping event before the winners were decided.
The results: National equestrian championship Show Jumping (Advanced grade): 1. Arun Maribashetti ( CJ - 15), 2. Ris. J.P. Masih (Mast Maulla), 3. Maj Shailender Singh (Master). Show jumping (Medium grade top score): Dfr.Malchand (Goldfinger), 2. Nk Girdhari (Matwala), 3. Nitin Gupta (Knight Warrior), 4. Nb Ris Vikram Singh (Farhan). One-day event (Team): 1. Remount Veterinary Corps (Swr. S. Poonia - Sunflower, Lt. Col. R.K. Dahiya - Oscar, Deep Ahlawat - Tu, Nb. Ris. Bhagirathi - Guddu), 2. 61st Cavalry (Maj. A.S. Randhawa - Nobleman, Maj. S. Dewan - K. Shab, Lt. S. Dagar - Tilak, Dfr. Shaitan Singh - Titan), 3. 61st Cav `B' (Capt. A.S. Rathore - Smart, Capt. S. Saharan - Rustic, Swr. Gajender Singh - Shamsheer, Capt. A.S. Baath - Nissan), 4. Remount Veterinary Corps `C' team (Swr. Govind Ram - Tarana, Ris. Palvinder Singh - Albela, Swr. Lakhan Singh - Royal Challenge, Dfr. Sunil Kumar - Tohfa) One-day event (Individual): 1.
