NEW DELHI, FEB.22. The Congress today asserted that it had made a final offer to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on seat-sharing for elections to the State Assembly and the Lok Sabha and it was for the TRS to respond. The Congress said the TRS could either contest 40 Assembly seats and four Lok Sabha seats or 38 Assembly seats and five Lok Sabha seats. "It is now up to the TRS to decide,'' the senior party leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad, in-charge of party affairs in the State, told presspersons here. Mr. Azad said the party had conveyed its decision to the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, through the Pradesh Congress Committee chief, D. Srinivas, last week. The TRS has been demanding 51 Assembly seats and seven Lok Sabha seats. The Congress has also asked the TRS to spell out its stand on two issues one that it would not have any links with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as claimed by one of its senior leaders and the other that the party would remain with the Congress after the elections. Asked about the Congress stand with regard to a separate Telangana, Mr. Azad said the party would come out with its formulation in the manifesto for the Assembly polls.
