BELLARY, FEB. 22. G. Umesh, President of the zilla panchayat, and G. Somashekar Reddy, Bellary City Municipal Council President, inaugurated the second round of pulse polio programme here today by administering oral polio drops to children. The Health Department has set a target to cover 3.05 lakh children in the district. It has set up 1,365 booths and 45 mobile centres for the purpose. Eighteen cases of polio were reported in the district this year. A polio mop up programme was held after the first case was reported in May last. G. Padmavati, former municipal President, G.S. Shivaswamy, Chief Executive Officer, Shivalli, District Health Officer, A.S. Rayakar, municipal Commissioner, and other officials were present.
