Arrack seized; one held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 22. The Nemom police arrested Kumar, a 30-year-old youth today, following the seizure of 75 litres of arrack near his house at Maruthoorkadavu in the Nemom police station limits.

According to the police, the arrack stored in three plastic cans of 35 litres each was recovered near Kumar's house. The youth, a resident of Planchiplavila veedu, Balaramapuram, was produced before the Neyattinkara Judicial First Class Magistrate I and remanded to 14 days custody.

Unidentified body recovered

The body of a 60-year-old man was recovered from the deep sea off Jonaka Poonthura between Beempally and Poothura under the Poothura police station limits today.

According to the police, the body was spotted by fishermen at around 10 a.m. The body was retrieved by the police and was being kept at the mortuary of the Medical College Hospital after post-mortem.

Construction worker killed

A 47-year-old construction worker was killed after he fell down while working in a house near Vakkom, near Attingal, at around 1 p.m. today. Sources at the Medical College Hospital said that the deceased had been identified as Chandran, a resident of Keezhakathil veedu, Vakkom. He is survived by his wife and two sons. The body had been kept at the mortuary of the medical college hospital.
