BANGALORE, FEB. 22. More than 2,500 students visited the two-day Education U.K. Exhibition, the 10th edition of which concluded here on Sunday. As many as 55 leading U.K. universities participated in the interactive education fair this time. Students seeking admission to various undergraduate and post-graduate courses were counselled by individual universities on the courses available, the qualifications required, the fee structure, accommodation and scholarship possibilities, etc. Most enquiries came for courses in management, information technology, engineering, computer science and bio information sciences. Admissions for most courses are scheduled to begin in September. Many of the universities will come to Bangalore again during June-July to carry forward the admission process for short-listed students. They would interview the students through their local representatives or the British Council, the Liverpool University's International Recruitment Deputy Director, Ursula Henry told The Hindu. On the qualifications required for the U.K. courses, she said most universities recognised the 12th Standard CBSE and ICSE and a few State pattern examinations for entry to undergraduate courses. She said most U.K. institutions offered merit-based part scholarships. More than 12,000 Indian students are currently studying in the U.K. The latest round of education fairs started on February 11. Besides Bangalore, the other cities hosting the fair are Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad.
